TPC: Logitech Wireless Keyboard Driver Installation Breaks Programmable Tablet Hardware Buttons (820884)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition

SYMPTOMS

When you install the Logitech iTouch wireless keyboard drivers on your Toshiba Tablet PC, the programmable tablet hardware buttons may lose their functionality. If you remove the iTouch keyboard driver, the tablet programmable buttons still may not function correctly.

CAUSE

The Toshiba Tablet PC uses the Toshiba Tablet PC Buttons Type N driver to provide the programmable button functionality. When you install the iTouch keyboard driver, it replaces the Toshiba Tablet PC Buttons Type N driver with the Easy Internet Keyboard driver. When you remove the Easy Internet Keyboard driver, the computer uses the Windows XP standard keyboard driver instead of the Toshiba Tablet PC Buttons Type N driver.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, you must reinstall the Toshiba Tablet PC Buttons Type N driver. To do so, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start.
  2. Right-click My Computer.
  3. Click Manage.
  4. Click Device Manager in the Computer Management window.
  5. Expand Keyboards.
  6. Right-click Easy Internet Keyboard, and then click Update Driver.
  7. Click Next (Install the software automatically).
  8. The Hardware Update Wizard installs the software for the Toshiba Tablet PC Buttons Type N.
  9. Click Finish when you are prompted, and then click Yes to restart your computer.
