SYMPTOMS
When you start Windows Journal after you install the
Microsoft Office XP Pack for Tablet PC (Tablet Pack), you may be prompted with the
following Security Warning message:

Publisher
authenticity verified by Microsoft Code Signing PCA
Caution: Microsoft
Corporation asserts that this content is safe. You should only install/view
this content if you trust Microsoft Corporation to make that assertion.
Always trust content from Microsoft Corporation
There is a
check box next to
Always trust content from Microsoft
Corporation, and at the bottom of the message there are three buttons named
Yes,
No, and
More
Info.
RESOLUTION
To prevent the security dialog box from appearing, you have
several options depending on the extent that you want to allow or prevent
loading.
Method 1: Always Trust Microsoft
This method prevents the security dialog from appearing
in the future. This gives you the complete Tablet Pack functionality
in Windows Journal. Microsoft recommends that you use this method to prevent the
security dialog box prompt from appearing.
- Start Windows Journal
- Click to select the Always trust content from
Microsoft Corporation check box on the Security Warning dialog, and
then click Yes.
Note When you select this option,
Always trust content from
Microsoft Corporation only applies to Windows Journal. Other
programs like Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office XP, and others are
not affected. Such programs still prompt you when you must install or run add-ins from Microsoft Corporation.
Method 2: Remove the Tablet Pack
This method completely removes the Journal integration features of the Tablet Pack and removes the option to use ink in Microsoft
Office XP programs.
- Click Start, then click Control
Panel
- Click Add/Remove Programs
- Select Microsoft Office XP Pack for Tablet
PC, and then click Remove.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to remove the
software.
Method 3: Disable only the Tablet Pack integration in Journal
This method prevents the Tablet Pack components from
loading in Journal. Therefore, the Journal integration features described earlier in this article will
not be available.
- Click Start, and then click
Run.
- Type cmd, and then click
OK.
- Type CD %programfiles%\tablet
pack.
- Type regsvr32 -u
nbtag.dll.
- Click OK.
If you want to restore this
functionality later, in step 3 remove the
-u parameter. This enables Nbtag.dll
again.
Method 4: Prevent the Loading of All Action DLL Add-ins in Journal
This method makes the Journal integration features of Tablet Pack not available and prevents any other Action
DLL add-ins from loading.
- Click Start, and then click
Run.
- Type cmd then click
OK.
- Type CD %programfiles%\windows
journal
- Type journal -Action 0
If you want to restore the
Action DLL functionality later, in step 3 change the "0" to a "1". This enables the
Action DLLs in Journal.
