Items that are contained in a deleted folder may still appear in a search folder in Outlook 2003 (820869)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office Outlook 2003
SYMPTOMSWhen you view a search folder in Outlook 2003, items that
are contained in a deleted folder may still appear.CAUSEThis problem may occur if the search folder searches all
folders except for the Deleted Items folder for the type of items that are
specified in the search folder. The only exception to this is that the search
folder will search any sub-folder in the Deleted Items folder.
Note When you delete a folder, the folder becomes a sub-folder of the
Deleted Items folder.WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, delete the sub-folder in the
Deleted Items folder before you view your search folder. To do this, follow
these steps:
- Start Microsoft Outlook.
- If the Folder List does not appear, click
the View menu, and then click Navigation
Pane.
- On the Navigation Pane, click
Folder List.
- Expand the Deleted Items
folder.
- Right-click the sub-folder, and then click Delete foldername.
- Click Yes when you receive the following
message: Are you sure you want to permanently delete
all the items and subfolders in the "foldername"
folder?
STATUS Microsoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
at the beginning of this article.
