Visio Viewer 2002 May Not Work Correctly on a Windows Server 2003-Based Computer (820857)

SYMPTOMS

Microsoft Visio Viewer 2002 may not work correctly on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based computer. For example, after you download Visio Viewer 2002 from the Microsoft Office Download Center Web site, and then install Visio Viewer 2002 on a Windows Server 2003-based computer, the viewer may not load correctly in Microsoft Internet Explorer.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur if the Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration component is enabled. By default, this component is enabled in Internet Explorer on Windows Server 2003-based computers.

The Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration component may prevent certain Web sites from displaying as expected in Internet Explorer. Additionally, programs that require the browser may not work as expected because scripts, ActiveX controls, and download capabilities are disabled.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, remove the Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration component in Windows Server 2003. To do so, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
  2. Click Add/Remove Windows Components.
  3. In the Components list, click to clear the Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration check box, and then click Next.
  4. Click Finish.
