XADM: Exchange 2000 Public Folders Are Mail-Enabled by Default After You Change to Native Mode (820854)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server SP3
SYMPTOMSWhen you change an Exchange 2000 computer from mixed mode to native mode, public folders that you create are mail-enabled. For example, after you change the Exchange 2000 computer from mixed mode to native mode, and you create a public folder, follow these steps: - Start Exchange System Manager.
- Right-click the public folder, and then point to All Tasks.
You see that the Mail Disable option is displayed on the shortcut menu that appears. CAUSEThis behavior may occur if both of the following conditions are true: - You change the Exchange 2000 computer from mixed mode to native mode.
- You do not restart the information store service after you change Exchange 2000 to native mode.
WORKAROUNDTo work around this behavior, after you change the Exchange 2000 computer from mixed mode to native mode, restart the information store service. To do so: - Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Services.
- Right-click Microsoft Exchange Information Store, and then click Restart.
After you restart the information store service, new public folders that you create are mail-disabled. . STATUS
This behavior is by design.
