If you try to install Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 or Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 (SP2) or earlier, you receive the following message: Mandatory upgrade: Setup cannot proceed without Windows 2000 SP3 or later. After you have installed SP3 or later, restart Visual Studio .NET setup. SP3 or later is available from http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000 Do you want to go to the Windows 2000 site now?

MORE INFORMATION

Windows 2000 SP3 or later is not included on the Microsoft Windows Component Update (WCU) CD-ROM. Therefore, you must install the latest service pack separately.
