SMS Web Reporting Tool Reports Times Incorrectly (820731)

SYMPTOMS

When you run a report by using the SMS Web Reporting Tool, the report time may be different from the report time that is listed when the report is run in the Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2.0 Administrator console. The extent of the time difference depends on your time zone and on whether daylight saving time is in effect.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the SMS Web Reporting Tool does not translate the local time correctly.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix Information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Systems Management Server service pack that contains this hotfix.

MORE INFORMATION

Smswebreporting_enu.exe is a Microsoft Windows Installer file that updates specific files on your site server. To install this hotfix, follow these steps:
  1. Copy the hotfix folder structure to a share on your network.
  2. Log on to your site server by using an account that has administrator permissions.
  3. On the site server, quit the SMS Administrator console, and then close all the open SMS Web Reporting Tool pages.
  4. Run Smswebreporting_enu.exe, and then follow the instructions in the wizard.
