BUG: Diagnostic Tool in DirectX 9 Reports Some Information Fields in Incorrect Areas (820680)



The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft DirectX 9.0 Runtime, when used with:
    • the operating system: Microsoft Windows XP Professional
    • the operating system: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

SYMPTOMS

On a system that is running either Windows XP Professional or the Brazilian version of Windows XP Home Edition with DirectX 9.0a installed, when you review the Sound tab in the diagnostic tool (Dxdiag), you notice the following:
  • The WHQL status is shown in Provider name.
  • The provider name is shown under Other files.
Note This problem does not occur in other language editions.

RESOLUTION

This problem is scheduled to be fixed in the next release of DirectX.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

  1. Install DirectX 9.0a.
  2. Click Start, click Run, type dxdiag.exe, and then click OK.
  3. After the DirectX Diagnostic Tool window opens, click the Sound tab.

    Notice that the WHQL status is shown in Provider name, and the provider name is shown under Other files.
