A Class Module That Has a WithEvents Procedure Causes Access to Stop Responding When You Close the Associated Form (820606)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to close a form in an Access database, Access stops responding.

The form instantiates a class module that contains a WithEvents procedure. The form also contains a Close event or an Unload event where the class is set to equal Nothing.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Office 2000 Service Pack that contains this hotfix.
