You cannot forward a fax to another fax recipient in Office 2003 (820590)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office Word 2003
- Microsoft Office Excel 2003
- Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003
- Microsoft Office Outlook 2003
SYMPTOMSYou cannot forward an already sent fax document to another
recipient in Office 2003. Your only choice is to send the document as a fax again either as a
Recipient through a Fax Modem or as a Recipient using
Internet Fax Service, and re-enter all the necessary information for
faxing the document to the new recipient.CAUSEThis behavior occurs because the fax information (the fax
ticket that is attached to the fax by your Fax Service Provider) that was used to
originally send the message has been used already and is no longer
valid.WORKAROUNDTo work around this behavior you have to use the
Microsoft Office Document Imaging program to send the FaxImage.tif file that was
created when you first sent your fax. To do this, follow these steps:
- Right-click the .TIF image file that is attached to the fax mail
in Outlook, and then click Open.
- On the File menu, point to Send
to, and then click Recipient using Internet
Fax.
- If the original fax has a cover sheet, click to clear the
Cover sheet check box in the Fax Service
pane.
Otherwise, fill out the cover sheet as appropriate. - Enter the fax number of the recipient, and then click
Send.
STATUS Microsoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
at the beginning of this article.
