Contact List Recipients Are Not Listed When You Use the Find Names Dialog Box in OWA (820280)

SYMPTOMS

When you use Microsoft Outlook Web Access (OWA) to access your Exchange Server 2003 mailbox, and you use the Find Names dialog box to search for the name of the person or distribution list that you want to send a message to, you may find that you cannot search for names from distribution lists in your Contacts folder.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because you cannot use the Find Names dialog box in OWA to search distribution lists that are in your Contacts folder.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

To use the Find Names dialog box in OWA to search for a person or distribution list that you want to send your message to, do one of the following:
  • Click the Address Book icon on the toolbar.

    -or-
  • Click Inbox, and then on the toolbar, click New. In the new message, click one of the following (as appropriate to your situation):
    • To
    • Cc
    • Bcc
