How to View the Type, the Edition, and the Server Version of the Exchange Servers in Your Organization (820270)

1. Start Exchange System Manager, expand the administrative group container that contains the servers in question, and then click the Servers container.
2. The right pane displays a list of servers and several columns of information:
   • The Type column shows if the server is Front-end, Clustered, or Basic (Basic applies to non-clustered back-end servers).
   • The Edition column shows the edition of Exchange Server. This column shows the following information for Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server and Exchange 2003 computers: Standard, Standard/Evaluation, Enterprise, or Enterprise/Evaluation.
   • The Server Version column represents the build number of Exchange Server. For additional information about Exchange Server build numbers, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

   Note Exchange System Manager in Exchange 2003 always shows the Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 computers as Standard, even if Exchange Server 5.5 Enterprise Edition is installed.
   
   Note Clustered Exchange Virtual Servers are not labeled Evaluation even if the nodes are running evaluation copies.
