BUG: The Left Mouse Button Stops Responding After You Cancel the Welcome Screen (820218)

SYMPTOMSThe first time that you run Windows Media Player 9 Series after installation, a wizard appears that says, "Welcome to Windows Media
Player 9 Series". If you click the close button (X) to quit the wizard, the left mouse button does not respond when you click desktop shortcuts.
The left mouse button will work on
other desktop items, such as the Start menu. The right mouse button is unaffected.
Note By using the wizard, you can set privacy options, view the privacy statement, set the file types for the player. The buttons in the wizard include Back, Next, and Close. STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are
listed at the beginning of this article.
MORE INFORMATIONThis issue generally occurs only if you start Windows Media Player
the first time by double-clicking an audio file or a video file on
the desktop.
