The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft ActiveSync 3.6
  • Microsoft Windows Powered Pocket PC 2002
  • Microsoft Windows Powered Pocket PC 2000
  • Pocket PC Phone Edition 1.0
  • Smartphone 2002 1.0

SUMMARY

Documents that are created in a different language from the language of the Microsoft Windows Powered Pocket PC operating system or the desktop computer operating system are not supported for transfer to the Pocket PC device.

MORE INFORMATION

Microsoft Pocket PC and Microsoft ActiveSync are designed to operate effectively only when the operating systems on both the desktop computer and the Pocket PC device are the same language version. The desktop version of ActiveSync does not support Unibase language sets. If the language versions do not match, the following problems may occur:
  • Random characters may appear in documents that are created in a language different from the language that the desktop computer operating system and the Pocket PC operating system use.
  • If you type names in the Pocket PC Contacts in a language different from the language that the desktop computer operating system and the Pocket PC operating system use, these names may not transfer to the Pocket PC.
This behavior has been noticed in the Cyrillic language set and the Asian language sets.
