Hotfix information
A supported hotfix is now available
from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is
described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this
specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you
are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait
for the next Windows XP service pack that contains this hotfix.
To
resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to

Note In special cases, charges that are ordinarily incurred for

The English
version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later) that are listed in
the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in
coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is
converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use
the
Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control
Panel.

After you apply the hotfix, you can create a Group Policy
setting to prevent users from closing the Language bar.
WORKAROUND
To turn on the Language bar, follow these steps:
- Click Start, and then click
Control Panel.
- Click Date, Time, Language, and Regional
Options.
- Click Regional and Language
Options.
- Click the Languages tab, and then click
Details.
- On the Settings tab, click
Language Bar.
- Click to select the Show the Language bar on the
desktop check box, and then click OK.
- Click OK to close the Text
Services and Input Languages dialog box.
After you install the hotfix that is described in the
"Resolution" section of this article, you can configure a registry
setting
to prevent users from turning off the Language bar. To do this,
follow these steps
- Click Start, click Run,
type regedit in the Open box, and then
click OK.
- Locate and then click the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft
- On the Edit menu, point to
New, and then click Key.
- Type MSCTF, and press ENTER.
- Right-click the new MSCTF key, point to
New, and then click DWORD Value. Type
DisableCloseButton, and then press ENTER.
- Double-click the DisableCloseButton entry,
type 1 in the Value data box, and then
click OK.
