You receive a clipsave error message when you print a publication in Publisher 2003 (819583)

SYMPTOMS

When you print an Office Publisher 2003 publication, you may receive a PostScript error message:
%%[Error: undefined; Offendingcommand: clipsave]%%

CAUSE

This problem may occur if you are printing with a printer driver that is configured for PostScript Level 3 support, to a PostScript output device, such as an imagesetter or proof printer that does not support PostScript Level 3.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem for the current publication, follow these steps:
  1. On the File menu, click Page Setup.
  2. Click the Printer and Paper tab.
  3. Select the appropriate printer from the Name list, and then click Properties.
  4. Click Advanced.
  5. In the Printer_Name Advanced Properties dialog box, expand PostScript Options.
  6. Click PostScript Language Level, and then change the value from 3 to 2.
  7. Click OK, and then click OK again to return to the Page Setup dialog box.
  8. Click OK.
To resolve this problem for future publications, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, and then click Printers and Faxes.
  2. Right-click the icon of the printer you are printing to, and then click Printing Preferences.
  3. Click Advanced.
  4. In the Printer_Name Advanced Properties dialog box, expand PostScript Options.
  5. Click PostScript Language Level, and then change the value from 3 to 2.
  6. Click OK, and then click OK again.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
