Print jobs do not appear in the print queue when you print a publication on Miramar PC MacLAN network in Publisher 2003 (819582)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office Publisher 2003
- Microsoft Office Publisher 2003 with Digital Image Pro
SYMPTOMSYou try to print a Microsoft Publisher file from a Microsoft
Windows XP-based computer. You send the file across a Miramar PC MacLAN network
to the printer. Publisher appears to print the file correctly, but no job
appears in the print queue.RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, you must create an auto-spool folder
in Windows.
- Create a folder on your hard disk. It is a good idea to
create a folder with a simple path and file name (such as C:\Spool). Make sure
that you make a note of the whole path and folder name.
- Click Start, and then click
Printers and Faxes.
- Right-click the name of the printer that you are using.
Click Properties.
- Click the AppleTalk tab.
- Click Auto-spool from this
folder.
- In the Auto-spool from this folder text
box, type the path and name of the folder that you created in step 1.
- Click OK.
- Print to a PostScript file from Microsoft Publisher.
- Open a publication that you are trying to
print.
- On the File menu, click
Print.
- In the Print dialog box, click to
select the Print to File check box.
- Make changes to any other printer settings, and then
click OK.
- In the Print to File dialog box,
select a path and file name for your PostScript file. This must not be the same
folder as your auto-spool folder.
- Click Save.
- In Windows, drag the PostScript file to your auto-spool
folder.
Note To print additional publications, create PostScript files, and
then drag those files to the auto-spool folder.
MORE INFORMATIONThis behavior occurs with other Windows programs. Any
program that generates a large PostScript file may have this
problem.
