ReplMon Tool Shows Monitored Server Naming Context As Unavailable with a Yellow Exclamation Mark (818875)

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Active Directory directory service Replication Monitor tool (Replmon.exe) to monitor a server that is running Windows 2000, a yellow exclamation mark may appear next to an Active Directory naming context, and the context may be unavailable (dimmed).

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the naming context's update sequence number (USN) exceeds 2 billion.

Note Each time a change is made to an Active Directory naming context, the USN is incremented on the domain controller where the change originated.
