SYMPTOMS
When you run a
netsh script file, you may receive the following error message:
'register' is not a valid argument for this command.
The syntax supplied for this command is not valid. Check help for the correct syntax.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when the script file contains an
add parameter that is not valid for the Domain Name Service (DNS) entry.
For example, when you run the
netsh int ip dump > scriptfile.txt command, a script file is written that is similar to the following:
:
set dns name="Corp" source=static addr=157.54.0.201 register=PRIMARY
add dns name="Corp" addr=157.59.132.15 register=PRIMARY
add dns name="Corp" addr=157.59.132.13 register=PRIMARY
:
Note that "register" is not a valid argument for the
add parameter.
