The Display Name of an Attached File Icon Is Not Displayed Correctly (818650)


The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Content Management Server 2002

SYMPTOMS

Create a template that implements a SingleAttachmentPlaceholder control and that also contains a UseGeneratedIcon placeholder definition that is set to True. Use the Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) Web interface to create a page that is based on this template, and then attach a file that contains Japanese characters (or any multiple-byte characters) to the placeholder. After the page is submitted and approved, the display name of the attached file icon is not displayed correctly.

CAUSE

Because of a coding issue, the multiple-byte characters are converted to question marks.

RESOLUTION

Service pack information

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this Is a problem In the Microsoft products that are listed In the "Applies To" section. This problem was corrected in Content Management Server 2002 Service Pack 1.

To install the fix, obtain the fix files, and then follow these steps:
  1. Run Cmsupdate.exe.
  2. Back up Authformclient.js in <install drive>:\Program Files\Microsoft Content Management Server\Server\IIS_CMS\WebAuthor\Client.
  3. Back up Authformclient.js in <install drive>:\Program Files\Microsoft Content Management Server\Server\IIS_NR\System\WBC\Internals\PageTemplate\Authoring.
  4. Copy Authformclient.js from the IIS_CMS folder to <install drive>:\Program Files\Microsoft Content Management Server\Server\IIS_CMS\WebAuthor\Client\authformclient.js.
  5. Copy Authformclient.js from the IIS_NR folder to <install drive>:\Program Files\Microsoft Content Management Server\Server\IIS_NR\System\WBC\Internals\PageTemplate\Authoring\authformclient.js.
