Windows NT Stops Responding with a "STOP 0x1E" Error Message (818615)

SYMPTOMS

Your Microsoft Windows NT 4.0-based computer may unexpectedly shut down or stop responding (hang), and then you receive the following error message on a blue screen.:
STOP 0x0000001E

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
