- Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5
SYMPTOMSIf you send an e-mail message that contains embedded URLs to a recipient on an Exchange Server computer, and the recipient views it by using a text-based Post Office Protocol version 3 (POP3) e-mail client program such as Mutt, the message appears to be formatted incorrectly.
If you view the message by using Microsoft Outlook Express, it appears as you expect.CAUSEThis issue occurs if the message contains both plain text and HTML MIME content.
When Exchange Server converts the message (IMAIL conversion) for the text-based client, it incorrectly displays the URLs in the text-only portion of the message. Because of this, the message may appear with the URLs interspersed throughout the message content.WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, use Outlook Express to view the e-mail message.STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5.
