The information in this article applies to:

- Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003, Premium Edition
- Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003, Standard Edition
SYMPTOMSWhen you use the Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Merge Wizard to
export mailboxes from a Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 computer, when you select the
database where you want to extract the messages from, you receive the following
error message: No users were found containing mailboxes
in the database(s) specified. Please specify another domain controller in the
domain containing the users. If users are present in more than one domain, do
not specify a domain controller. In this case, the program will query the
Global Catalog for users that have mailboxes in the selected
database(s). CAUSEThis problem may occur if you run the Microsoft Exchange
2000 Mailbox Merge Wizard (Exmerge.exe) program to extract messages from a
database on an Exchange Server 2003 computer. Note If you upgrade an Exchange 2000 computer to Exchange Server 2003,
the Exchange 2000 version of the Mailbox Merge Wizard may not be replaced with
the Exchange Server 2003 version. As a result, you may be using the Exchange
2000 version of the Mailbox Merge Wizard when you try to extract messages from
your server. To determine the version of the Mailbox Merge Wizard:
- Right-click Exmerge.exe in the
Exchsrvr\Bin folder, and then click Properties.
- Click the Version tab, and then view the
information next to File version.
The version of Exmerge.exe included on the Exchange 2000 CD-ROM
is 6.0.4417.0. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, use the Exchange
2003 version of Exmerge.exe.
You can obtain
an updated copy of Exmerge from Microsoft. To do this, visit the following
Microsoft Web site: Exmerge.exe and Exmerge.ini must be copied to the \Program
Files\Exchsrvr\Bin folder to function. STATUS Microsoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
at the beginning of this article.
