SYMPTOMS

You may not be able to remotely administer the clustered Microsoft Message Queuing MQSeries Bridge service as a member of the Power Users group.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000 service pack that contains this hotfix.

You cannot administer the clustered Message Queuing MQSeries Bridge service using the Q2qexpl.exe file. You must have administrator permissions to gain access to the cluster database. To administer the clustered Message Queuing MQSeries Bridge service, you must log on as an administrator. You have to apply Host Integration Server 2000 Service Pack 2 (SP2), and then follow these steps to permit members of the Power Users group to administer the Message Queuing MQSeries Bridge service:
  1. Start Cluster Administrator.
  2. In Cluster Administrator, right-click the top cluster node in the tree view, and then click Properties.
  3. In the Cluster Properties dialog box, click the Security tab, and then add a user.
  4. Start Registry Editor.
  5. Grant the user permissions for the remote registry.

  7. Grant the user read permissions on the following registry key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Perflib

  8. Grant the user Full Control permissions for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Cluster.
  9. Wait several minutes for the permission to be propagated through the subtree.
  10. Log on to a Microsoft Windows 2000-based Terminal Services computer as a member of the Power Users group.

    You can now administer the clustered Message Queuing MQSeries Bridge service.
