BUG: Incorrect Memory Utilization Reported For Visual J# .NET Redistributable Package and Visual J# .NET (818424)

SYMPTOMS

When you install Visual J# .NET on your computer, and then you verify the Add or Remove programs list, you may notice that the memory utilization values for Microsoft Visual J# .NET Redistributable Package and Microsoft Visual J# .NET appear similar to the memory utilization value for Visual Studio .NET. However, the actual memory utilization for Microsoft Visual J# .NET Redistributable Package and Microsoft Visual J# .NET is less than that of Visual Studio .NET.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

  1. Install Visual Studio .NET 2002.
  2. Install Visual J# Redistributable Package.
  3. Install Visual J# .NET SDK.
  4. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  5. Double-click to open Add or Remove Programs.
  6. In the Currently installed programs list, compare the memory utilization values for Microsoft Visual J# Redistributable Package and Microsoft Visual J# .NET to the memory utilization value for Microsoft Visual Studio .NET.
