FIX: The Interix Select() Function Is Blocked on a Writable Socket (818067)

SYMPTOMS

When the Interix select() function is called on a write operation for a Windows (Winsock) socket that has a time-out period defined, the select()function is blocked until the time-out period expires.

The function remains blocked even if the socket becomes writable before the time-out period expires.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem.
