PRB: The Secure Sockets Layer Sign-In Page Does Not Display If a Partner's Microsoft .NET Passport Site Does Not Use the LogoTag2 Method (816409)

SYMPTOMS

If a partner's Microsoft .NET Passport Web site does not use the LogoTag2 method, the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) sign-in page does not display.

RESOLUTION

The Microsoft Passport 2.1 code is fixed to ignore the SSL sign-in case for the Tweener Login dialog box (uses the LogoTag2 method). The Passport code logs on the user, and then returns the user to the partner's Passport Web site.

MORE INFORMATION

It is a good idea for the partner's Passport Web site to determine whether the user has the correct security level. If the user does not have the correct security level, the partner's Passport Web site should redirect the user to the .NET Passport Sign-in dialog box, so that the user can retain a personal identification number.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

  1. Open a Web browser, and then locate a Passport Web site that is served over HTTPS and that is not using the LogoTag2 method.

    The .NET Passport sign-in dialog box is displayed.
  2. Type a valid user name and password in the .NET Passport sign-in dialog box.

    You are directed to the partner's Passport Web site. The Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) sign-in page does not display.

    Note Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) sign-in works through a Passport Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) sign-in Web site that does not use the LogoTag2 method.
