Paged Pool Memory Leak with Increase in Handle Count for Services.exe (815493)

SYMPTOMS

A server running Windows 2000 Cluster service may experience a paged pool memory leak with a corresponding increase in handle count for Services.exe. The leaked handles refer to token objects. The leak may continue on a node after the resources are failed over to the other node.

The server may report the following error in the event log: Event ID: 2020 Restarting the server may temporarily resolve the problem.

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article.
