Critical update for Windows XP Media Center Edition (815487)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition

SYMPTOMS

This update provides stability and performance enhancements, and resolves the following issues:
  • If you try to record an episode of a series that has been removed from the schedule, the whole series is deleted. (For example, if you schedule a series to record, cancel the current episode from recording, and then schedule the current episode to record by using Guide or the One Touch Record feature. If you do this, the current episode is recorded but the rest of the series is deleted.)
  • Program Guide may take up to 10 seconds or more to appear and may cause the video to freeze while Program Guide is loading. Some or all one-time and series schedule recording requests may be unexpectedly removed from the Scheduled Recordings menu. This does not affect manual recording requests.
  • This update resolves an issue in the Program Guide loading software for Media Center that may prevent scheduled series recordings from being updated with new information. The recordings are not updated unless the Media Center shell is open during the daily Program Guide download process. If the schedule is not updated correctly at least one time during a two week period, particular shows that are scheduled to be recorded can be missed.
