XADM: Error with Event ID 623 Occurs When Client Computers Try to Connect to the Information Store (815417)

SYMPTOMS

Clients cannot connect to the information store. One or more of the following events are recorded in the application event log:Event Type: Error

Description: Information Store (3524) 23f6e44f-dd32-4f25-aff7-8af40e5904bb: The version store for this instance (3) has reached its maximum size of 155Mb. It is likely that a long-running transaction is preventing cleanup of the version store and causing it to build up in size. Updates will be rejected until the long-running transaction has been completely committed or rolled back.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, restart the Information Store service.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server service pack that contains this hotfix.
