OWC Pivot Control Returns "#Value!" from a Virtual Cube Process (815407)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office XP Web Components

SYMPTOMS

When you try to view or expand data if you use the Office XP Web Components (OWC) pivot table to pull data from a virtual Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) cube, the cells of the pivot table may return the "#Value!" error.

CAUSE

The "#Value!" errors appear when the cube is processed and an Auto Synch occurs. Scrolling to non-visible data or the control losing focus and then regaining focus can trigger the Auto Synch. The "#Value!" error indicates that the server cube and the local cache are no longer synchronized and you must refresh the PivotTable. You can disable the Auto Synch by using the ;Auto Synch Period=0; command in the connection string. The Office XP Web Components do not use this setting in the connection string. The fix that is described in this article makes it possible for you to use 'Auto Synch Period=0' to avoid the "#Value!" error.
