Services.exe process uses 100 percent of the CPU utilization when a dependent service exits prematurely on a Windows 2000-based computer (815349)

SYMPTOMSOn a Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer, the Services.exe
process uses 100 percent of the CPU. This may cause the computer to stop
responding. When this problem occurs, you must restart your computer to regain
functionality.CAUSEThis problem may occur if the Services.exe process tries to
start a service that has dependencies. When Services.exe tries to start the
service that has dependencies and makes a call to the ScStartMarkedServices() function, the Services.exe process stops responding and uses 100
percent of the CPU.RESOLUTION To resolve this problem, obtain the latest
service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following

times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you
