XADM: Size of the Information Store Unexpectedly Increases When You Perform a Deep Traversal Query of a Non-MAPI Public Folder (815296)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Enterprise Server

SYMPTOMS

When you perform a deep traversal query of a non-MAPI public folder in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, you may find that the size of the information store unexpectedly increases. For example, the size of the database files (.edb) may increase by 512 kilobytes (KB) each time you perform a deep traversal query.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Exchange OLEDB Server component (Exoledb.dll) uses the default aging time for table operations on temporary search folders. As a result, the tables are not deleted from the database after the temporary search folders are deleted and after the tables are closed.
