XADM: An Access Violation Occurs When You Use CDO to Access Calendar Items (815241)

SYMPTOMS

When you create a program that uses Collaboration Data Objects (CDO) to access Microsoft Outlook Calendar items in a mailbox that is stored on an Exchange Server computer, an access violation may occur.

CAUSE

This problem may occur when the Calendar folder contains one or more recurring appointments that are damaged, and CDO incorrectly processes the damaged items.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem.

The Global version of this fix has the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

Note Because of file dependencies, this update requires Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 Service Pack 4 (SP4).
