Hotfix installation information
After you install this hotfix, you can use a registry entry to modify the default behavior in Exchange Server 5.5 so that the OAB is generated in the OAB Version 2 folder instead of in a folder that is named by using a GUID.
Warning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
To use the functionality that is provided by
this hotfix, modify the registry on the Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 computer. To do this, follow these steps:
- On the Exchange Server 5.5 computer, start Registry Editor. To do this, click Start, click Run, type regedt32 in the Open box, and then click OK.
- Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeDS\Parameters
- On the Edit menu, click Add Value.
- In the Value Name box, type OAB disable search control, click REG_DWORD in the Data Type list, and then click OK.
- In the Data box, type 1, and then click OK.
After you enable this registry value, OAB generation does not verify search control and creates the OAB in
the OAB Version 2 folder.
Important If you use Exchange Server 5.5 to host other organizations, carefully consider the implications of this registry modification before you implement it in your organization.
