SYMPTOMS
When you use either incremental deployment or full-site
deployment to move updates from your Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) 2001 or 2002 staging server to the production server, you may receive
404 Page Not Found responses from Internet Information Services (IIS). This behavior
occurs because the underlying Microsoft SQL tables are locked for both read and
write when you deploy or when you perform background processing. This is
discussed in the following articles.

PRB: Postings and Images Do Not Appear on Live Site After Site Deployment Import
310819 DOC: Only Cached Objects Are Available During Site Deployment Import
Both articles suggest caching the content of the
site in the MCMS cache. This allows MCMS to gather the required content from
the cache and avoid a roundtrip to the database. However, this may not to be
sufficient to solve the issue. Therefore, the following fix is
available.
