Visio tries to upgrade application in the same GPO (815137)


The information in this article applies to:

  • the operating system: Microsoft Windows 2000
  • Microsoft Visio 2002 Professional

SYMPTOMS

While attempting to deploy Visio 2002 using a GPO that also contains other applications, Visio may try to upgrade those applications.

CAUSE

This is confirmed to be a problem in Windows 2000.
Note:

This problem does not exist in Windows XP

WORKAROUND

You can bypass this problem using the following:
Recreate the GPO and put Visio in first. Visio only tries to upgrade if it is loaded last.
Or
Put Visio in it's own GPO.
Or
Use a computer running windows XP SP1 to deploy visio2002 using GPO.
