Visio Quits Unexpectedly When You Copy or Cut Objects in an ER Source Model Diagram (814720)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Visio for Enterprise Architects (2002)
SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Visio for Enterprise Architects 2002, if you
select all the objects in a Visio Entity Relationship (ER) Source Model
diagram, and you then use the Cut command or the
Copy command to cut or to copy the selected objects, Visio may
quit unexpectedly. When this problem occurs, you do not receive an error
message.CAUSEThis problem may occur if the ER Source Model diagram has
two or more tables and you have defined a Category Relationship between two
tables.
This problem may also occur if one or more
Entity or Connector shapes are colored in the
ER Source Model diagram.WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem in an ER Source Model diagram
that contains Category Relationships, use one of the following methods in Visio
instead of using the Cut command or the Copy
command to cut or to copy the selected objects:
- To create another copy of the ER Source Model diagram,
follow these steps:
- On the File menu, click Save
As.
- In the Save As dialog box, type the
path and the file name of the copy in the File name text
box.
- Click Save.
- To remove all the objects in an ER Source Model diagram,
use the Delete command instead of the Cut
command.
