XCON: cc:Mail Address Is Truncated and You Receive a Non-Delivery Report (NDR) When You Reply to All (814670)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5
- Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 SP1
- Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 SP2
- Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 SP3
- Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 SP4
SYMPTOMSWhen you send an e-mail message from one Exchange Server site to a
recipient with a Lotus cc:Mail address in another Exchange Server site that is connected by
an X.400 Connector, the cc:Mail address of the recipient may be
truncated when you view its properties in Microsoft Outlook. When you use the Reply to
All command in the message that you sent, you receive a non-delivery report (NDR).
CAUSEThis problem occurs if the cc:Mail address of the
recipient contains more than 128 characters. In this scenario, the cc:Mail
address is truncated to 128 characters and is not correctly resolved to the
user name. Therefore, an NDR is generated for the truncated cc:Mail address
when you reply to all. RESOLUTIONA
supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to
