MSBBN: Host name blocks Internet access in Base Station Management Tool Settings (814489)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Broadband Networking Wireless Desktop Kit MN610
SYMPTOMSYou cannot access the Internet through your cable
connection. You may receive the following error message: The
page cannot be displayed CAUSEAn incorrect host name is picked up and set for the MN-100 or
MN-500 and stops access to the Internet. Some connections do not use a host
name.
Note The wide area network (WAN) settings for your network are
provided by your Internet service provider (ISP). The settings vary, depending on whether your ISP account
provides a static IP address, a dynamic Internet connection, or a
Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) connection. Contact your ISP to
find out what these settings are.RESOLUTION- Start the Broadband Networking Utility to bring up the
Network Status.
- Click Tools, and then click Base Station
Management Tool.
- Type the password to log on.
- On the first log on screen, see if it says
Connecting next to Broadband Connection.
- On the left side, click Wide Area Network.
Note If your Internet connection is disabled, the WAN settings are
unavailable. - On the right side, under Dynamic
Connection, delete the host name.
- Click to Apply the changes, log off, and
close the tool.
