Problems if Outlook Is Not Configured to Send Your MSN User Name and Password (814435)
The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWhen you try use your MSN e-mail account to send an e-mail
message from Outlook 2000, you may receive the following error message: 0X800CCC78 error: The message could not be sent because the
server rejected the sender's e-mail address CAUSEThis issue may occur if you have not configured Outlook 2000
to send your MSN user name and password to log on to your MSN e-mail
server.RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue:
- Start Outlook 2000, and then click
Accounts on the Tools menu.
- On the Mail tab, click your MSN e-mail
account, and then click Properties.
- Click the Servers tab, and then click to
select the My server requires authentication check
box.
- Click Settings.
- Under Logon Information, click Log
on using.
- In the Account name box, type your MSN
member ID (everything before the "at sign" (@) of your MSN e-mail address).
- In the Password box, type your MSN account
password.
- Click to select the Log on using Secure Password
Authentication check box.
- Click OK, and then click
OK.
- Click Close.
