To add a shared printer, follow these steps.

Step 1: Disable Firewall Software


If you have non-Microsoft firewall software installed on your computer, disable it. For information about how to disable the firewall software, see your product documentation or contact the software vendor.

Step 2: Add a Shared Printer

Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
  1. Click Start, and then click Printers and Faxes.
  2. Right-click the printer that you want to share.
  3. Click Sharing...
  4. Click the Sharing tab, and then click Share This Printer.
  5. Verify the share name, and then click OK.
