SLIP Does Not Indicate When a Line Is Disconnected (814213)


The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS


If a Microsoft Windows CE-based client connects to a server by using Serial Line Internet Protocol (SLIP) and then loses the connection because of a physical disconnect, the client does not indicate the disconnect. For example, the Remote Connections window and the icon in the notification area both show an active connection.

CAUSE

The SLIP protocol does not send a disconnect signal to the upper-layer protocols.

RESOLUTION

A supported software update is now available from Microsoft as Windows CE 3.0 Core OS QFE 814213. To resolve this problem immediately, click the following article number for information about obtaining Windows CE Platform Builder and core operating system software updates:
