The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Money 2002
  • Microsoft Money 2003 Deluxe
  • Microsoft Money 2003 Deluxe and Business

SYMPTOMS

If you close Microsoft Money after it stops responding (hangs) during an electronic payment transaction, you may find duplicate transactions listed in the check register the next time that you start the program. When you try to delete one of these duplicate transactions, you may receive the following error message:
This online transaction has not been completed. You need to send this payment again to complete the transaction before deleting it.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, follow these steps.

Caution If you follow these steps to turn off Online Services for a financial institution, all E-pays and A-pays for that institution are changed to a "Write a Check" payment type. After you follow these steps, and then turn on the Online Service for the financial institution again, you must manually change the payments back to the correct type of payment.
  1. Turn off (disable) the online devices for this financial institution. To do this:
    1. On the Accounts & Bills menu, click Online Services Manager.
    2. Click Modify for the financial institution that you want to edit.
    3. Click I'd like to discontinue using online services, and then click Done.
  2. Quit and restart Microsoft Money.
  3. Delete the duplicate transactions.
  4. Turn on (enable) the online services for this financial institution. To do this:
    1. On the Accounts & Bills menu, click Online Services Manager.
    2. Under Common Tasks, click Specify where accounts are held.
    3. Under Common Tasks, click Do other account setup tasks, and then click Setup online services.
    4. Under Online payment service providers, click Setup electronic bill pay service.
    5. In the Select an online payment provider box, click the provider that you want to use, and then click Next.
    6. Follow the instructions on the screen to sign in to your account and complete the setup process.
  5. Contact your financial institution to verify that they have not recorded duplicate transactions.
