SYMPTOMS
One way to install a local printer is by using PrintUI.dll
by means of INF and by following the steps in the article that is listed in the "References" section. If you use
this method to install a local printer that uses a custom print processor,
the printer processor is not selected in the
printer
Properties dialog box even though the new print processor is installed. You may experience the following symptoms:
- If you perform a new installation, you always receive the
Winprint.dll print processor.
- If you replace an existing driver, the selection for the
previous print processor is retained.
Note This problem does not occur if you use the
Add Printer
Wizard to install the printer.
