XCON: Word Wrap Is Lost in Replies to E-mail Messages That Were Sent from Lotus Notes to Exchange Server 5.5 (814105)

SYMPTOMS

When you send an e-mail message in .rtf format or .doc format from Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 to IBM Lotus Notes, the message is delivered. However, when the recipient replies to the message, the formatting is lost, including word wrap. Additionally, the header information is added to the body of the message. For example, the following header information is included in the body of the message:

User1 DateTime To: User2 cc: User3 Subject:  Subject information

This problem becomes worse as additional replies are sent. This problem appears both when you view e-mail messages and when you print copies of the e-mail messages.

After you install this hotfix, you must add a new entry in the Exchsrvr\Connect\Exchconn\Exchconn.ini file. To do so, follow these steps:

Stop the Exchange Notes Connector.
Start Notepad, open the Exchconn.ini file, and then locate the [LME-NOTES] section.
Add the following entry in the [LME-NOTES] section of the Exchconn.ini file: FIRSTCOLUMNREDUCTION=value from 0 to 100 The first column of the table is automatically resized by the percentage value that you set in the FIRSTCOLUMNREDUCTION entry in the [LME-NOTES] section. For example, if the entry in the Exchconn.ini file is FIRSTCOLUMNREDUCTION=50, the first column of the table is reduced by 50 percent.

After you add the FIRSTCOLUMNREDUCTION entry, the margins are set correctly. Additionally, after you add this entry, all tab formatting and indentation formatting is automatically removed in the tables that were resized.
After you have made the changes, save the Exchconn.ini file, and then restart the Exchange Notes Connector.
