Your USB Device Does Not Work After Hibernation (812946)



The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server

SYMPTOMS

When you try to use your USB device, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:
  • Your USB device may not work.
  • Your USB device may have a yellow exclamation point (!) next to it in the Unplug or Eject Hardware dialog box.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if:
  1. You connect your USB device to the USB port while the computer is in hibernation.
  2. You resume your computer from hibernation.
  3. You disconnect your USB device from the USB port while your computer is in hibernation.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue:
  1. While Windows is running and your computer is not in hibernation, disconnect your USB device.
  2. Connect your USB device to the USB port.
