XADM: The Sender of an Undeliverable Mail Message Does Not Receive a Non-Delivery Report (812846)
The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMSWhen a mail message cannot be delivered to a recipient that
is outside the local domain, the sender may not receive a non-delivery report
(NDR).CAUSEThis problem may occur if you have turned off the "Allow
non-delivery reports" feature. This setting applies to all NDRs that are
destined to recipients in the domain, regardless of where the NDR is generated.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, turn on the "Allow non-delivery
reports" feature:
- Start Exchange System Manager.
- Expand Global Settings, and then click
Internet Message Formats.
- Right-click Default, click
Properties, and then click the Advanced
tab.
- Click to select the Allow non-delivery
reports check box.
