SYMPTOMSWhen you try to install or remove OmniPage Pro version 10,
the installation may fail, and you may receive an error message that is similar
to the following: Cannot find the file:
Omnip~18.msi CAUSEThis problem may occur if you try to install or remove
OmniPage Pro 10 on a computer that has been upgraded to Windows 2000 from an
earlier version of Windows. The Windows Installer version 1.0 that was used in
the earlier version of Windows converts the "Omnipage10.msi" long file name to
"Omnip~18.msi", and then cannot find a file with that name on the OmniPage Pro
10 CD-ROM. RESOLUTION To resolve this issue:
- Insert the OmniPage 10 CD-ROM in the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM
drive.
- Click Start, point to
Search, and then click For Files or
Folders.
- In the Search for files or folder named
box, type omnipage10.msi.
- In the Look in box, click your CD-ROM or
DVD-ROM drive, and then click Search.
- In the right pane, right-click the
Omnipage10.msi file, and then click
Copy.
- In the Address bar, click drive C.
- On the Edit menu, click
Paste. This places the Omnipage10.msi file in the root folder
of drive C.
- Right-click the Omnipage10.msi file, click
Rename, type omnip~18.msi, and then
press ENTER.
- Quit all programs, and then start the installation of
OmniPage Pro 10.
- When you experience the problem that is described in the
"Symptoms" section of this article, click Browse, click the
root folder of drive C, and then click OK.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the
installation of OmniPage Pro 10.
