"STOP 0x0000001E" Error Message in Tcipip.sys When Server Is Under a Heavy Network Load (812707)

SYMPTOMS

Your Windows 2000 Server-based computer may intermittently stop responding (hang), and you may receive an error message on a blue screen that is similar to the following:

***STOP 0x0000001E (parameter1 , parameter2, parameter3, parameter4)
Tcipip.sys

CAUSE

This problem may occur if network utilization is high and the server is under a heavy network load.

RESOLUTION

Service Pack Information

Hotfix Information

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4.
